Emily R. Jakobeit
About Emily
Emily Jakobeit brings to Rain Minns Law a background in the type of legal issues that many individuals encounter – employment disputes, personal injury, workers’ compensation, child custody, and property damage claims among them – and a track record of winning cases that reaches from administrative law hearings to the Texas Supreme Court.
Emily grew up in Austin, graduating from McCallum High School, where she was an honors student and an accomplished violinist. After graduation, she headed east to Nashville, TN, where she earned her BA in English at Vanderbilt University, then west to California, where she earned her JD at the University of San Francisco School of Law. Emily’s family is still grateful she picked schools in cities that were so much fun to visit.
Between her university studies, Emily split the distance back home and worked as a Teaching Assistant at a residential facility for children, many of whom were involved in the court system. It was during this time that she decided a legal career would be the most effective way to help others.
During Law School, she continued this interest through the School of Law’s child advocacy clinic. More recently, through various local and national organizations, she has provided pro-bono advocacy for the humane treatment of companion, wildlife, and farm animals.
Emily lives ln Austin with her husband Brandon, their daughter Lillian, and their very patient dog, Laika.
